Blood and Purification
Question
Assalamualaikum…I have a question about blood, pus or other discharge from pimple or other part of body.If i have a pimple and after bursting the blood flows.so my question is how to wash that flowing blood.i have read that if the blood is flowing and you pour water in it then the used water is also impure.so how to wash that blood.Suppose if i have a pimple on my nose and burst and blood flows now if i pour a handful of water then that water goes to my mouth and rest of the face and also on the clothes..Is my face mouth and clothes impure by that water.
I had also read that if i pour handful of water on blood then if the characteristics of water does not change then its not impure.
what to do in this situation?
Answer
To wash such areas, first, stop the bleeding or pus. Apply tissue on the area and hold firmly for around 8-10 minutes and the discharge will stop. Thereafter, you may wash the area. This will stop the water from becoming mixed with blood. Moreover, if you were using a sink to wash, the likelihood of water splashing onto your clothes is unlikely as you would be hunched towards the sink.
In a situation where water mixed with blood reaches the clothes, it would be unlikely to be more than a speck of blood. As this would be less than the concave of one’s palm (3-4cm); this would not be an issue for one’s prayers (salah).[1]
Lastly, if water mixed with blood was to reach the mouth, one would rinse out the mouth.
I hope this clarifies the issue
