The syllabus, the assessment and the certificate are identical on both streams.

Youth stream – Ages [13 to 17]

Taught with extra structure and scaffolding, with more time given to how to write an assessed answer. Termly progress reports go to parents.

This stream suits: students who are currently in secondary school, college or are home schooled. It will provide them with a thorough grounding in Islamic Studies.

Seniors stream – Ages [18 and over]

Taught at a faster pace, with the assumption that learners can manage their own study between sessions.

This stream suits: teachers in supplementary schools, mosque and madrasa staff, converts wanting a structured grounding, and adults who would like to study in a structured way and want it recognised.

Structured Flexible Assessments

Regulated qualifications work differently to community courses. The syllabus is fixed and published. Every learning outcome has assessment criteria attached to it. Written work is marked against those criteria, internally quality assured, and externally verified by the awarding organisation. The qualification appears on a public register maintained by Ofqual.

None of that is optional and none of it can be skipped. It is why the certificate carries weight outside the community as well as inside it.

FAQ – Your Questions & Our Answers

The total teaching time is 120 hours, which can be delivered over 30 weeks a year for 2 years.

Entirely online, live. Two sessions a week, on Zoom. You join from home — there’s nothing to travel to and no fixed location, so it works wherever you are.

We will be finalising the times of the classes. The youth stream is most likely to be early on a weekend morning. The adult stream is most likely to be on a weekday evening.

The qualification sits at Level 2 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, which is the same level as GCSE, but it is a separate qualification and not interchangeable with a GCSE.

No, it is open to all ages, both teenagers and adults. The adult stream is taught at a faster pace and additional depth. The qualification is the same one, but Level 2 refers to the depth of the assessment, not the age of the learner. Plenty of adults hold Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in subjects they came to late.

Yes! we have our own learning portal which all learners will have access to. Important information will be uploaded there along with additional learning materials.

A laptop, tablet or phone with a working internet connection. A headset or earphones are recommended. You will need to buy the course texts which will be available to order. Students will be expected to make notes in the lessons.

Through our online learning platform. All assessments are submitted digitally and returned with written feedback.

Exam assessment fee is a one-off payment of £83 which will allow us to immediately begin the weekly learners’ assessments
There will be a small fee to purchase the learner materials.

The tuition fee covers:

The Teaching Team

Saleh Malik was born and raised in the UK and studied Social Sciences, IT and Education at university up to postgraduate level. His first serious exposure to traditional scholarship was when he attended the month long Rihla course held in the UK in the summer of 1997. Shortly thereafter he spent a year in the Middle East where he studied Arabic at the University of Jordan between 1998-1999. He also spent four years working in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, during which he read with some scholars in his free time.

He is a also a qualified secondary school teacher and has taught ICT and Social Sciences at secondary school level, as well as working on an education reform project for the Abu Dhabi Education Council for 3 years.

He has completed the study of basic texts in: Arabic grammar, Hanafi & Hanbali fiqh, Usul al Fiqh, Hadith, Mustalah al-Hadith and Aqidah with scholars based in the UK, as well as from Mauritania, Turkey, Syria, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

He currently resides in the United Kingdom with his family and works in a field unrelated to Islamic Studies.

Ustadha Saira is a qualified pharmacist and a secondary school science teacher. She has a passion for Islamic education and has attended a number of courses in Islamic studies. She is a mother of four children and has extensive experience of challenges facing young people.

She currently works as a part time clinical pharmacist and has worked as an academic co-ordinator and teacher for primary level Islamic Studies for a large masjid near London.

We have an assistant instructor who will be supporting the educational delivery to learners. They are trained educators with a background in Arabic language and Islamic learning, and also have extensive professional experience.
